Annual Macaroni Dinner Fundraiser - Sunday, March 23, 2014

The 23rd Annual Troop Six Macaroni Dinner Fundraiser, along with a silent auction, will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the Church of the Annunciation in Cranston, with dinner being served from 3-6pm. Volunteer adults are needed before and after the event. 10 tickets at a cost of $9 each will be passed out to each Scout at the February 23rd Troop Meeting. EVERY SCOUT IS OBLIGATED TO SELL OR PURCHASE ALL TEN TICKETS (15 total tickets for brothers). PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE TO THE DUES TABLE NO LATER THAN THURSDAY, MARCH 20, 2014. Additional tickets will be available. All funds raised from the Macaroni Dinner will used to pay for or drastically reduce the Scout cost of our Annual Troop Trip in June. This years Troop Trip is to Gettysburg PA. Total cost of each coach bus is approximately $4500-$5200.

Order of the Arrow Troop Elections

Order of the Arrow, the National Boy Scouting Society, will hold its annual Troop 6 elections on Thursday March 6, 2014 at 7pm at the Troop Meeting. Here are the youth qualifications: - Scout is a registered member of unit. - Scout is at least 11 years of age and under 21 years of age. - Scout is First Class or above at time of election. - Scout has attended required unit activities during past year. - Scout has camped for at least 15 days and nights, including 6 consecutive long-term days and nights, during the prior two (2) years. - The Scoutmaster has an obligation to consider Scout Spirit (attitude & participation) as a final determining factor. A sign up sheet is located at the dues table.

2014 June Trip to Gettysburg

Our Annual Troop Trip is to Gettysburg PA this year.

Below is the agenda for the trip

  • Friday, 6/20: Depart from Garden City at 5am
  • Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: Tours of battlefield and Town of Gettysburg
  • Monday (all day): Hershey Park
  • Tuesday, 6/24 (travel day): Return to Garden City, approximately 10pm Tuesday night

Additional information, costs, and deadlines:

  • ScoutsWear your Class B on the bus and carry your Class A with yellow hat on a hanger!  That includes scout socks. Bring soft-sided luggage only, a day pack, water bottle, bathing suit, towel, toiletries, sleeping bag, bug spray, sun lotion and spending money.  Your meals and venues are already included. Don't forget to bring your scout issued tent if you have one.
  • Adults: Must wear a yellow Troop 6 hat, Class A or B and have Youth Protection TrainingPlease complete YPT by 6/18 and bring your certification with you on Friday.  All adults are welcome to ride the bus! Food will be provided, but please bring your own tents.
  • Scouts pay a $20 bus reservation fee that will be refunded at Gettysburg
  • Travel via coach bus, camping accomodations, meals and venues are included for the Scouts
  • Fee for adults is $150.  Transportation and some meals are not included
  • Adults who participate must be Youth Protection Trained - no exceptions. 
  • All Scouts must turn in a new 2014 Medical Form, with Parts A, B, and C signed by the doctor and parent.  A copy of your medical insurance card must be included. 
  • The due date for all payments is Thursday, May 15th. 
  • The due date for all medical forms is June 11th.
